🔥 Heat Press Instructions for Leatherette Patches
Getting a clean bond depends a lot on the type of press you’re using. Here are the settings we recommend (based on the material we source and use at Bad Ash Creatives):
👉 Single Heat Plate Press (like Vevor models)
-
Pre-press the hat: Warm up the area at 300°F for 30 seconds. This flattens the surface and helps prep the fabric.
-
Apply the patch: Place your patch where you want it and press again at 300°F for 25 seconds with firm pressure.
👉 Double Heat Plate Press (like Hotronix 360 IQ)
You can go one of two ways:
-
One-step method:
-
Set the top plate between 270–290°F and the bottom plate between 380–400°F.
-
Apply medium pressure for 45 seconds for a strong, single-step bond.
-
-
Double-press method:
-
Warm the patch area first for 30 seconds.
-
Then place the patch and press again for 20–25 seconds.
-
This second round helps lock in the adhesive even more.
-
⚡ Pro Notes
-
Always make sure patches are completely dry before pressing—moisture weakens the bond.
-
If a corner isn’t sticking, give it a little more heat and pressure (short bursts of 5–10 seconds).
-
Use a Teflon sheet or parchment paper to protect the surface of your patch.
